Where and when to get married in Cyprus.

Where and when to get married in Cyprus with www.cypruscelebrant.com

When choosing your wedding date, there are a lot of factors to consider.

Firstly, (and arguably most important) is to decide if there’s a specific time of year when you want to get married.

Secondly, you’ll also want to take vendor availability and demand into consideration.

I advise you to book early. Check the dates for national holidays in the Republic of Cyprus and The Turkish Republic of Cyprus. The north and the south have different holidays. Consider having your wedding outside of national and school holidays in Cyprus.

Thirdly, budget nearly always comes into the equation. Weekday weddings often work out less expensive and are easier to book.

When is wedding season in Cyprus?

Cyprus is an all year round wedding destination. However the main wedding season is between April and late October. Cyprus enjoys a mild winter and a hot summer. We do have fantastic hotels and venues for winter weddings too ! The weather in the winter in Cyprus is mild and we have over 360 days a year of sunshine.

If you are a sun lover, and you love the heat, then aim for the middle of the season. If you prefer it to be nice and warm, you will find May, June, September, and October are good times. Our sunsets are amazing all year.

When you choose a celebrant led ceremony you can choose the location as well as the time of day you have your ceremony. Remember, you have options. Use your imagination and picture your perfect setting. I often help my couples select a location or venue for their ceremony and reception. The heat.

If you like your weather hot, then July and August are your main months. Expect temperatures to be high. You absolutely need to think about how the heat will affect you and your guests. When we speak about your ceremony, we will look at timings, and heat is a big consideration.  In the evening and night time it is cooler. Whilst some people opt for air conditioning, others take full advantage of the warm nights,  partying outdoors and going on sunset boat trips.

Remember the daytime temperatures in June, July, and August are very hot that is why most wedding ceremonies take place late afternoon or evening. Some venues have shaded areas, however the first thing to consider is whether you want you and your guests to be in direct sun for your ceremony.

Morning ceremonies.

A budget friendly option and the whole day to party

Where and when to get married in Cyprus depends on you. Having your ceremony early or mid morning is a great idea if you plan to entertain your guests for the day. It is cooler in the morning and this allows you the whole day to party.

For those who are budget conscious, it may well be better value to serve a traditional Cypriot wedding breakfast than having an evening dinner at your reception.

Morning weddings are ideal when you are having your ceremony on a boat. After the ceremony you can set sail and therefore enjoy the day on the boat. Boat operators can provide food and drinks but be sure to get a fixed price quote. It is fantastic way to have a private and fun wedding day where you get to spend the day with your guests.

Guests will often book accommodation near to the venue or at the venue so they can be ready early.

The light is good at this time of day for photos, and it will be considerably more comfortable for you and your guests than having a ceremony in the afternoon.

Lunchtime wedding ceremonies.

When you are considering where and when to get married in Cyprus, I urge you to consider the heat. When you experience the summer heat in Cyprus, possibly the last thing you want to do is be outside dressed up for a wedding in the direct sunlight. For that reason, I do not encourage couples to have outdoor lunchtime ceremonies in the height of the summer. Temperatures vary but here are some guides. June 73-82 degrees, July 77 -90 degrees, or August 80 plus. Check if your venue has a shaded area. There are however many venues that offer in-door and an air conditioned environments.

Late afternoon ceremonies.

Have your ceremony and party into the evening

Ceremonies in the late afternoon mean that you have all day to get ready for the ceremony. The advantage is you have time for your hair and make-up artist to prepare you and your wedding party for the big event. It also means your guests have more time to travel to your venue.

As the weather starts to cool after 5pm it becomes more comfortable and the light is still good for those perfect photographs. Remember our night time temperatures are still high compared to the UK. Your reception can then run into the evening.

Sunset and candle lit ceremonies

When choosing where and when to get married in Cyprus the idea of a sunset wedding on the beach is very appealing to some couples. It really is a very romantic time of day to get married.

A candle lit wedding ceremony is beautiful. It means after the ceremony you and your guests then have the whole night to celebrate – and it is cooler. Cyprus has many stunning locations for your perfect day.
