For some couples, the wedding guest list simply wouldn’t be complete without one very important member of the family. If you’re planning a dog-friendly wedding in Northern Cyprus, you can ensure your furry friend is part of your special day.
For Özgül and Alex, that was Bear, their gorgeous little Pomeranian, when planning a dog-friendly wedding in Northern Cyprus
.
The three of them are rarely apart, so when Özgül and Alex decided to celebrate their wedding in beautiful Northern Cyprus, they faced one rather big dilemma:
What were they going to do about Bear?
Leaving her behind simply wasn’t something they wanted to contemplate. Their wedding wasn’t just a holiday or a few days away – it was one of the most important moments of their lives. And Bear was part of their family.
So Bear came too.
From London to Northern Cyprus – with a Very Special Passenger
Bear made the journey from London in her doggie travel hold-all, ready to join her mummy and daddy for their wedding and honeymoon in the sunshine.
And, of course, she became part of the wedding celebrations.
As their Wedding Celebrant and Wedding Host & Master of Ceremonies, I already knew how important Bear was to them. Weddings are about the people – and sometimes the four-legged family members – who make your life what it is.
Having Bear there made their celebration even more personal.

But There Was One Little Problem…
Özgül, Alex and their guests were all staying at the wedding venue. I had no idea that Bear had joined us on the big day until much later in the evening. She is so small and perfectly behaved that nobody knew she was there.
Bear, however, couldn’t stay there overnight.
So what do you do when you’re the celebrant and wedding host and your newly married couple need someone they trust to look after their most precious little wedding guest?
Apparently, you become the official Pomeranian babysitter too!
Bear came home with me.
And yes – she slept in my bed that night.
I think it’s fair to say my duties occasionally extend a little beyond the traditional role of a Celebrant or Master of Ceremonies!

Could Your Dog Join You for Your Destination Wedding?
If your dog is an important part of your family, having a destination wedding doesn’t automatically mean they have to miss it.
With careful planning, it may be possible to include them in your wedding celebrations and even have them with you for your honeymoon. You must confirm with your venue that they will allow a dog at the wedding before making any arrangements.
There are practical things to consider – travel arrangements, current pet entry requirements, suitable accommodation, the temperature, transport, and who will take care of your dog during parts of the wedding day when you are busy.
Be aware of the legalities of taking your pet abroad, the paperwork and vaccinations that are needed, and then taking them back to your home country.
But when it works, having your four-legged best friend there can make an already special occasion even more memorable.
For Özgül and Alex, Bear wasn’t an accessory to their wedding. She was family.
And that’s exactly where she belonged.
